Jodi moved to the Gunnison Valley in 2008 from Durango, Colorado. She was ecstatic to find such a vibrant dance community in our small mountain town. As a child she danced on and off, but it wasn’t until her early twenties, while participating in an impromptu African dance class on a dirt street in Silverton, Colorado, that she truly felt the power of movement and it’s ability to bring people together. In 2015, at a friends recommendation, she attended a Nia class in Portland, Oregon, where she immediately fell in love with the practice, amazed at how simultaneously energized and grounded she felt afterwards. A few months later, knowing she had to have more, she traveled to Boulder, Colorado, where she received her Nia White Belt, enabling her to instruct. She has led Nia classes on and off since then in the valley, and is excited to share Nia through the School of Dance.
