The Crested Butte Dance Collective is dedicated to creating access to dance for adults.

Adult Programming

Adult programming includes classes of various styles for students ages 18 and up. At CBSOD, you will hear traditional dance classes referred to as Ground Dance as opposed to Aerial Dance; we offer both for adults.

Adult classes are open to dancers of all ability levels, teachers will scaffold to the individuals in the room. It is common for a never-ever to be in class with more experienced dancers and to have the opportunity to learn with and from them.

The Crested Butte Dance Collective adult program welcomes your ideas for class offerings and your interest in offering classes for your friends and community. Contact leadership to inquire about possibilities.

Move the Butte

Move the Butte is a community dance production starring over 100 Crested Butte and Gunnison local dancers! Move the Butte is an important opportunity for adults to perform on stage and share this dance experience with their friends, family, and other aspiring artists in our rural community. This production showcases dance styles such as Ballet, Tap, Aerial, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Burlesque, and more! This production has been running for 14 years, approximately 1,200 audience members watch Move the Butte each year, and we encourage any new participants to join us! The mission of Move the Butte is to deepen the connection to ourselves, each other, and the world around us through dance. We are a community-based, educational production that fosters adult creativity, self-expression, and personal growth through professional dance instruction and performance opportunities.

The support of our sponsors enables us to continue producing Move the Butte each year. It allows us to cover the costs of the theater rental, technical support, and staffing and keep MTB affordable to all participants and audience members.
